The Mid-America Bonsai Alliance (MABA) is a non-profit organization made up of local bonsai clubs and societies from nine Midwest U.S. states and one Canadian province.  Currently, those states and provinces are:

  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kentucky
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • Ohio
  • Ontario
  • Wisconsin

MABA's purpose is to foster the sharing of knowledge and bonsai artist talent among the clubs and states of the Midwest, as well as to encourage the use of native species in the art of bonsai.

MABA also promotes public awareness and appreciation of bonsai. To further the goals of education and communication, MABA holds an impressive convention in association with one of its member clubs.  There is no membership cost to clubs desiring to be members of MABA.

About MABA 2008

In June of 2008, MABA brings its convention to Indianapolis.  Hosted by the Indianapolis Bonsai Club, this four day event will feature top bonsai talent from both the United States and Europe, including Danny Use, Steve Pilacik, Dana Quattlebaum, and Matt Ouwinga.

This four day event will be held at the Marten House and Lilly Convention Center complex next to St. Vincent’s Hospital on West 86th Street in Indianapolis.  The convention will include a variety of workshops, demonstrations, and exhibits as well as vendors from all over the Midwest and beyond.

While the convention is hosted by the Indianapolis Bonsai Club, all members of MABA associated clubs are welcome and invited to participate in exhibition as well as the workshops and demonstrations.  In addition, a basic “Bonsai 101” workshop will be offered to the general public to help foster a better understanding and appreciation for the art of bonsai.

We hope to see you there!!
